Baxter Creek Clean-Up and Bioswale Maintenance

Get outside and make a difference at Baxter Creek! Join us on Saturday, March 14th from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM for a fun, hands-on community workday as we care for a restored stretch of creek in Richmond.

This section of Baxter Creek was restored in the early 2000s into a thriving stream corridor that supports local wildlife and flows to the San Francisco Bay. The nearby bioswale helps capture and filter stormwater runoff, improving water quality before it reaches the creek. Bioswales and trash cleanups benefit salmonids by improving water quality and habitat.

We will spend some time learning about how bioswales are designed and how they work to prevent pollution and reduce flooding. Then we’ll roll up our sleeves to remove trash from the creek and W**d and mulch the bioswale to keep this habitat healthy and beautiful. Come meet your neighbors, learn something new, and help protect your local watershed!

Gloves, tools, water, and snacks will be provided. Please wear closed-toe shoes and bring a hat and water bottle. All ages welcome!
