Battle of the Books - The Professional Premiere

Inspired by their ultra-competitive final round in last year’s Mount Vernon Battle of the Books competition, Harper & Amelia are determined to lead their teams to victory this year. However, when the struggles happening in their personal lives invade their teams’ practices, their stress starts to materialize. Their books start to come to life, all while a secret society bans their list of books & cancels the competition. In the face of extreme stress, the students fight to keep the competition going…and hopefully heal personal relationships.
Winner of the 2026 Excellence in Playwriting Award through the New Hampshire Theatre Awards after a production of Andy’s Summer Playhouse, this coming-of-age play mixes comedy, drama, magical realism, and movement to explore poverty, grief, stress responses, single-parent households, legacy, friendships, and book banning.
