Step into the Pollen Patch for an evening designed to engage your senses, your creativity, and your body.
Rhythm Garden brings together the world of herbalism with the sensory experience of ritual, sound, and movement. Surrounded by the plants of The Pollen Patch, you’ll spend the evening exploring herbs, creating something of your own, and discovering new ways to connect with yourself and your surroundings through rhythm and movement.
Your experience begins with a guided exploration of the Pollen Patch garden, where you’ll meet some of the medicinal and aromatic plants growing here and learn about their traditional roles in herbal practice and ritual.
Sacred Smoke Herbal Prerolls Workshop
You’ll then work directly with these botanical traditions during a hands-on Sacred Smoke workshop, creating your own substance-free herbal prerolls. One to smoke in the garden, and one to take home. You’ll have the opportunity to choose and combine herbs based on their aromatic qualities while learning more about the plants that make up your blend.
DIY Rattle Bar
We will begin exploring sound and rhythm through a rattle-making experience, where you’ll create a small shaker of your own using natural materials. The Rhytmn Garden Rattle Bar is included in this experience!
As the evening unfolds, the focus shifts from making with your hands to experiencing movement through your body.
Shake Your Petals!
Guest facilitator Jill “GrandmotherJoy” Davis will lead an immersive, headphone-based movement experience combining curated music with guided meditation, breathwork, mindfulness, expressive movement, and dance. Rather than learning choreography, you'll be offered a series of guided invitations to notice your body, explore different kinds of movement, respond to the music, and gradually move from inward reflection into more expansive expression.
The experience is intentionally accessible: you do not need to consider yourself a dancer, and there is no right or wrong way to participate. You might find yourself moving gently, shaking out tension, experimenting with unfamiliar movements, dancing freely, or simply taking moments to pause and listen while seated. The headphones create an individual soundscape while Jill guides the group through a shared experience, allowing you to be both connected to the people around you and immersed in your own experience.
Optional Ceremonial Flash Tattoos
For those who want to make the evening even more personal, Roa of Roa Studios will be offering ceremonial tattoos for $60 each during the event. Tattoos can be done either indoors or out in the garden, and spaces are limited. A limited number of tattoo time slots will be available to reserve when purchasing your event ticket, so you'll be able to secure your appointment in advance while still having plenty of time to enjoy the rest of the evening.
Outdoor Event
Rhythm Garden takes place primarily outdoors at The Pollen Patch. Please dress for the weather and bring anything you need to be comfortable, including water, sunscreen, bug spray, weather-appropriate clothing, and comfortable shoes and clothing for movement. A blanket or mat is also welcome.
BYOB: Bring your own beverages to enjoy during the evening.
The Pollen Patch Apothecary will be open for shopping, giving you the chance to browse our herbal goods and botanical creations. An indoor restroom is available.
Free parking is available! Turn onto W Morrill Ave from South High Street and the parking lot will be on your right. The spaces are extra long so double parking is permitted. Free parking is also available on South High Street. Enter the garden through the dark green metal gate shown in the photo.
