BASICS: VCarve Software

Join us for an introduction to VCarve software for the Laguna CNC machine at Lacey MakerSpace!

We'll be covering basic CNC project setup, tool path types, tool selection, and project post-processing. This class will prepare members to design their projects in VCarve to be able to book time with a Volunteer CNC Operator at LMS.

VCarve is a popular CAD/CAM software by Vectric for designing and creating toolpaths for CNC routers. VCarve is popular for sign making, engraving, and creating pieces that work together, like cabinetry. This software ffers 2D design tools and 2.5D/3D toolpath strategies like V-Carving, profiling, pocketing and texturing for creating detailed projects in woodworking with varied depths. To get the most out of this class, come prepared with your laptop with the free trial of VCarve installed. (scroll about halfway down the page for theVCarve Try for Free link.)

During your VCarve software class, attendees will receive access to an invitation link to open your file with the LMS VCarve license. Members will also learn how to reserve time on the 4ft x 8ft Laguna CNC Router with a dedicated volunteer through your member portal.

Already have a file ready to go? You still need the invitation link to submit your file correctly. Ask staff for the link and follow the steps to get your project going.
