This is a two-part class. An evening classroom session will take place at Kachemak Bay Campus from 5:30 - 7 on Fri 1/30, and a field session will be at Bear Creek Winery's orchard (down the road from the winery) from 1:00 - 3:30 Sat 1/31.

Local fruit tree expert Tim Alzheimer will teach this two-part class on the basics of pruning fruit trees to help you get your feet under you when undertaking this sometimes daunting task. Do you have fruit trees that are in need of pruning? Are you interested in planting fruit trees but nervous about the maintenance and upkeep? We hope this class will take away the fear and give you the confidence to start pruning your own trees. This class will start with an evening classroom session where you'll learn the philosophy of pruning trees, the anatomy of a fruit tree, types of tree forms, and tree pruning priorities. Then we'll take it outside in a field session at Bear Creek Winery's orchard for some live demos of actual pruning underway!
