Learn the basics of canoeing and join our club to paddle with like-minded enthusiasts!This course is a basic introduction to the sport of kayaking. The course programme covers Canoeing Ireland’s Level 1 Kayak Skills syllabus. The course is suitable for total beginners or for participants who have some previous experience.
Each course introduces participants to basic boat handling skills along with the necessary safety and rescue skills needed for paddling in a flat-water environment. This is a practical, water-based course and all participants must be able to swim.
You should wear sports clothing that doesn’t get heavy when wet (e.g. running/cycling/football clothing), a light rain jacket if it’s wet/windy and old runners. Bring a towel and a FULL change of clothing. A wetsuit is not required.
The course fee includes club membership for the entire year, as well as Canoeing Ireland membership.

It also paves the way for further skill development within the club and participation in other paddle sports at the club, including slalom, freestyle, polo, racing, and paddle-boarding.
