The Dixboro Project is proud to welcome Marquette, Michigan’s Barrel + Beam Brewery for a farm-to-table pairing dinner featuring classic farmhouse beer styles.
Barrel + Beam Brewery is housed in what used to be the Northwoods Supper Club, a historic restaurant built by Wisconsin farming transplants Fred and Emma Klumb in 1934. At one point it was the second oldest restaurant in Michigan. Much like one of the restaurants that preceded what is now Dixboro House, The Farm Cupboard, the Northwoods Supper Club was also famous for its fried chicken dinners and was a community gathering space for decades. After shuttering its doors in 2007, Barrel + Beam Brewery purchased and renovated the cabin-esque building in 2016, keeping many of the structure’s original hand-hewn logs and encapsulating the Northwoods Supper Club spirit within the property for years to come.
Barrel + Beam Brewery proudly brews with Michigan-sourced and other regional ingredients, specializing in French and Belgian farmhouse beer styles. In keeping with the brewery’s name, Co-Founder and Head Brewer Nick VanCourt often incorporates barrel-aging, blending, and wild yeast strains (Brettanomyces) to create beers that honor classic styles, local ingredients, and palate-pleasing sour, tart, and funky flavors.
