Frequently asked questions
Who is the event aimed at?
Our Barkstage Tour is aimed at individuals, groups or colleagues, who would like to find out about our work and see what goes on at our rehoming centre. So, whether you are new to Dogs Trust, or are an existing supporter, adopter, fundraiser or volunteer, we would love to welcome you!
(As our Barkstage Tour may include a short presentation or doggy demonstration, it may not be suitable for younger children or those who are anxious around dogs.)
Can school classes and youth social groups come along to a Barkstage tour?
Whilst the event is open to all, it covers Dogs Trust work in general terms and is not specifically aimed at school pupils and youth groups. In these instances, you may find our online resources helpful, which you can access through our website: https://www.dogstrust.org.uk/about-us/what-we-do/professionals/education
If your school or youth club are fundraising for Dogs Trust and you have further enquiries, please email [email protected]
What goes on during the Barkstage Tour?
Friends and visitors will be given a behind-the-scenes tour of our facilities, taking in everything from our rehoming kennels and our prep rooms to our outside areas and training barn.
As part of the tour, you will find out about the work of Dogs Trust, hear stories about some of our dogs, the people who work with them, as well as our amazing supporters.
We may also get to meet one or two dogs who are out on walks or enjoying training and enrichment time. However, this is not guaranteed.
Plus, there will also be a chance to grab a cuppa and ask any questions.
Will we be able to see any dogs?
Yes! The tour will take in our rehoming area, where you will see some of our dogs who are currently waiting for their forever homes. However, please note, other dogs may be reserved, undergoing assessments, or may simply prefer their own space and be in a quieter area. So, not all dogs will be visible.
As part of the tour, we may also get to meet one or two dogs who are out on walks or enjoying training and enrichment time. However, as our site is a working rehoming centre, with our routines different for each dog, this is not guaranteed.
Can I bring my own dog?
Sadly no. While we look forward to hearing all about your own furry friends, this event includes a behind-the-scenes tour of our facilities. Therefore, we aren’t able to accommodate your own dogs on this occasion.
Please also note, no dogs are to be brought to our rehoming centre and left alone in cars.
Can we bring donations?
Absolutely! We gladly accept blankets and unopened dog food, treats and ‘as new’ toys for our dogs. Thank you so much for considering this.
If you would like to give a cash donation, we can help you with this as well. Please speak to your tour host about this on the day.
Is the event suitable for people with mobility issues?
We have disabled parking near to the centre entrance. All of the Barkstage Tour is on the ground floor. Please note that there is some gravel in areas. If you would like more details, please email.
I want to ask further questions about the event - who do I contact?
Please email [email protected] and we will be happy to help.
