Baritone Bonanza
St Michael’s presents Baritone Bonanza, featuring two unique performances.
The program includes ‘Fifteen Minutes of Fame’ by Dr Andrew White, Professor of Music-Voice at the University of Nebraska Kearney (USA), currently on tour in the UK. He holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree, as well as an Artist Diploma and Doctorate from the Cleveland Institute of Music / Case Western Reserve University.
Fifteen Minutes of Fame is a project featuring 15 one-minute works written by different composers for a specific musician or ensemble.
Featured composers include David Bohn, Erik Branch, Ross James Carey, Sarah Clevely, Pernille Faye, Tom Lane, Darth Presley, Gene Pritsker, Volker Ignaz Schmidt, Soheil Shirangi, Kirsten Johnson, Brent Straughan, Kyle Vanderburg, Blair Whittington, and David Wolfson. Together, these miniature works offer a remarkable cross-section of today's contemporary vocal music, spanning lyrical art song, electronics, experimental soundscapes, and dramatic storytelling.
The initiative highlights contemporary composition and connects audiences with new music by living composers. Since its inception, the project has premiered works by over 1,000 composers in New York City and across 11 countries.
The concert also features the world premiere of The Fragmentalist by Richard Nye. Nye is a composer who has worked extensively with electronics, sample libraries, and field recordings, and has produced three exclusive albums and over eighty individual tracks. He has also written scores for three feature films and served as Composer in Residence for Mere’s Tower Stories. The Fragmentalist is a three-movement work for baritone and fixed media.
