Music, movement and memorable journeys await at Warminster Philharmonic Orchestra’s summer concert.
From the passionate rhythms of Spain to the sweeping landscapes of Finland and the evocative sounds of America’s New World, audiences are invited to embark on a musical adventure when the Warminster Philharmonic Orchestra presents its summer concert, Dances and Destinations, on Saturday 18 July 2026.
The concert begins at 7.30pm in the Thomas Arnold Hall, Warminster School, and marks a significant milestone for the orchestra as it celebrates its 40th concert since being founded in 2004.
The carefully chosen programme brings together music inspired by dance, travel and different cultures, taking listeners on an unforgettable journey across the globe. Highlights include Saint-Saëns’ exhilarating Bacchanale, Sibelius’ majestic Finlandia, Smetana’s sparkling Dance of the Comedians, Bizet’s lyrical Pastorale from L’Arlésienne Suite No. 2, Borodin’s exhilarating Polovtsian Dances, Chabrier’s vibrant España Rhapsody, the deeply moving Largo from Dvořák’s New World Symphony, and the colourful, exotic Ballet Égyptien by Luigini. Together they perfectly capture the spirit of the concert’s title – celebrating both the universal language of dance and musical destinations from
around the world.
This year’s concert is proudly supporting Evie’s Gift, a charity that helps families whose child has a life-threatening or life-limiting
illness. By providing practical support during a child’s hospital stay, the charity eases some of the immediate pressures facing parents, allowing them to concentrate on their child and the important medical decisions surrounding their care. All proceeds from the raffle, refreshments and door collections will be donated to the charity.
The Warminster Philharmonic Orchestra has earned a reputation for combining musical ambition with a welcoming, community-focused ethos. Bringing together musicians of all ages and backgrounds from across Wiltshire and the surrounding counties, the orchestra is committed to making high-quality live orchestral music accessible while supporting local charities through its concerts.
Amanda Williams, founder and conductor, said:
“When I founded the orchestra in 2004, I simply hoped to create
somewhere people could enjoy making wonderful music together. To be celebrating our 40th concert is something I’m incredibly proud of, and it’s all thanks to the dedication of our musicians and the loyal support of our audiences over the years. ‘Dances and Destinations’ is one of those programmes that has something for everyone—music that’s uplifting, colourful, exciting and deeply moving. We’re also honoured to be supporting Evie’s Gift, whose work makes such a profound difference to families at the most difficult moments in their lives. We hope people will come along, enjoy a wonderful evening of music and help us make a real difference.”
Tickets are £10 in advance and £12 on the door. They can be purchased through the online shop at www.warminsterorchestra.org.uk,
