Why not join us for a leisurely hike through the Ballona Wetlands Ecological Preserve?
ITINERARY:
1. Meeting location and time:
Meeting time: 3:00 PM PST
Meet at Tanner's Coffee Co. - Playa del Rey at address:
Tanner's Coffee Co. - Playa del Rey
200 Culver Blvd C
Playa Del Rey, CA 9029
Some members may be running late, so we can wait 15-20 minutes for members that may be running late.
The members may chat, mingle, socialize, and get to know each other better.
2. We can set out on the hike from Tanner's Coffee Co. - Playa del Rey towards Ballona Creek Ecological Preserve along the Playa Del Rey Beach Walking Bike Trail.
Activities:
z. Walk to Del Rey Lagoon to review the activities in the park
a. Walk from Del Rey Lagoon to Playa Del Rey Beach Walking Bike Trail; view the Pacific Ocean and activity along the beach and along the coast.
b. Walk from Playa Del Rey Beach Walking Bike Trail to Ballona Creek Bike Trail, observing the flora and fauna of the Ballona Creek Ecological Preserve:
the scenery in the park, the views of the Pacific Ocean, the mild coastal climate, and review the architecture of the various buildings along the coast.
c. Walk Ballona Freshwater Marsh to observe the various bird species in the area.
d. Walk from to UCLA Marina Aquatic Center.
e. Break to rest, enjoy a snack, continue to mingle and socialize
e. Walk from UCLA Marina Aquatic Center to Tanner's Coffee Co. - Playa del Rey
The members may choose to enjoy a stimulating coffee beverage before the hike, after the hike, or BOTH!!!
Please bring enough water for approximately a 2 mile LEVEL hike along the Ocean Front Walk path, a pair of comfortable walking shoes, and some snack items to consume during the hike.
This hike is not meant to exhaust the members; it is just a light, easy hike to enjoy the views of the Pacific Ocean, review and observe the flora and fauna of the Ballona Creek Ecological Preserve along the coast, get some exercise, mingle, socialize, and get to know the other members.
