August 2nd is James Baldwin's birthday — and we can't think of a better tribute than putting books in people's hands.
Join us at Eaton DC for the Baldwin Book Swap, a community celebration of Baldwin's life and enduring belief in the power of literacy, education, and the written word. We're partnering with DC Books to Prisons — who will be on site — to make this more than just a swap. It's a chance to donate books directly to incarcerated readers across the DC region, learn about DC Books to Prisons' advocacy work, and connect with a community that believes, as Baldwin did, that access to literature is a matter of justice.
What to expect:
- Bring a book, take a book
- Donate directly to DC Books to Prisons on site
- Meet the DC Books to Prisons team and learn about their work
- Settle into Eaton House and grab a refreshment
