About this Event
Bad Bad Hats strike the perfect balance between intimacy and energy, making every show feel like a conversation between old friends. Whether you’ve been following them since "It Hurts" or you’re just discovering them, their set will leave you with a few new favorite songs and a chorus or two stuck in your head for days.
They’ve shared stages with The Beths, Hippo Campus, The Front Bottoms, and even Michelle Branch, who brought them on tour in 2022—an especially meaningful moment for Kerry, a lifelong fan. The Minneapolis-based duo—Kerry Alexander and Chris Hoge—take their name from a little-known song in the Madeline children’s book series, and much like that mischievous heroine, their music is filled with wit, warmth, and a little bit of rebellion. Over the years, they’ve built a dedicated fan base through crispy, lived-in melodies, sticky choruses, and an effortless chemistry that shines in their live performances.
Frontwoman Kerry Alexander, who grew up between Tampa and Birmingham, was raised on early 2000s MTV pop, classic rock CDs spinning in the kitchen, and singer-songwriters like Alanis Morissette and Kim Deal. She started writing songs as a teenager, dreaming of one day penning hits for pop stars. That ambition soon turned personal—she began performing at open mics, sharing demos on Myspace, and eventually teaming up with Chris Hoge at Macalester College. The two bonded over their love of songwriting, started gigging around the Twin Cities, and before long, Bad Bad Hats was born.
Supporting this show is Moon Child, an Americana band from Racine, WI. Rachelle Laundrie is a singer-songwriter and has been writing and performing since 1991. Their sound is akin to Chris Stapleton and Sheryl Crow.
