Back to School, Stay in School Family Fun Day

Join the NAACP Detroit Branch for our annual Back to School, Stay in School Family Fun Day at Delores Bennett Park. It is a free day built to send Detroit's young people into the new school year ready, supported, and encouraged.
Every child who attends can receive a free backpack filled with school supplies, while supplies last. The day also brings a free grilled lunch, games, music from the stage, and a row of community resource tables where families can connect with organizations, sign up for services, and get set for the year ahead.
Bring the whole family. This day is for children ages 5 to 18 and the people who love them.
When: Saturday, August 29, 2026, 12 - 3 PM
Where: Delores Bennett Park, 444 Smith Street, Detroit, MI 48202
Cost: Free
Backpack distribution begins at 2:00 PM. A child must be present to receive a backpack, while supplies last.
Registering ahead helps us prepare enough backpacks for every child, so please reserve your family's spot today. Walk-ups are always welcome the day of.
