About this Event

Move better. Hurt less. Understand your back.

This in-person mobility class at Motive Training in South Austin is built for people dealing with ongoing back tightness, stiffness, or recurring pain.

We’ll focus on improving how your hips, spine, and core work together so your back isn’t constantly doing more than it should.

This is not random stretching. You’ll learn how to build strength and control in the positions your body actually uses so you can reduce flare-ups and feel more confident in training and daily life.

What this class is:

A structured mobility and strength session designed to help you better understand and train around back pain. Led by Brian Murray at Motive Training in South Austin.

What you’ll do:

  • Improve hip mobility so your lower back doesn’t compensate.
  • Build spinal control through controlled, intentional movement.
  • Strengthen your core in ways that support your back, not stress it.
  • Learn a simple warm-up and reset routine you can use during the week.

Who it’s for:

  • Adults dealing with recurring low back tightness or stiffness.
  • People who have tried stretching but still feel unstable or stuck.
  • Active adults who want to train without constant flare-ups.

Who it’s not for:

Anyone currently experiencing acute or severe back pain that requires medical evaluation.

What to bring:

Comfortable workout clothes.

A water bottle.

A mat (we have extras, but bring your own if you can).

I’m Brian Murray, the founder of Motive Training here in South Austin, and I’ll be leading the session. I’ve spent the last 17 years coaching people through pain, mobility limitations, and performance goals, with a strong focus on helping athletes and active adults better understand their joints so they can move with more confidence and less discomfort.

This clinic is part of the mobility and joint health work we do every day at Motive Training ATX. In this class, we’ll break down the key joints that influence back pain—hips, spine, and ribcage—and show you how to train them using KINSTRETCH principles so your body feels more stable and capable.
