About this Event
Join us on Saturday 29th March for a welcoming and engaging Spring Equinox celebration! 🌸
As we welcome the vibrant season of spring, we are excited to create a gentle and fun space to connect with the natural world and ourselves. The Spring Equinox marks a time of balance, renewal, and growth, and we’ll embrace this energy with a day full of foraging, seasonal herbal remedy-making, meditative tea tasting, and nature drawing activities.
Our journey begins at Shai Space, where we will embark on a peaceful foraging walk through Burgess Park, exploring the many wild plants that signal the arrival of spring. We’ll forage for herbs, learn about their healing properties, and craft seasonal remedies with the plants we’ve gathered which participants can take home.
Along the way, we’ll pause for a meditative tea tasting, connecting with the plants in a mindful way and discussing their benefits. To ground our experience, we’ll also do some nature drawing to capture the beauty of the season.
The walk will be facilitated and led by Frankie and Bekah from the Back A Yardd Collective, with a focus on creating a relaxed, fun, and educational atmosphere.

🌱 Who we are 🌱
Back a Yardd is a South-London based community-focused collective which aims to reconnect people of the Global Majority back to the land.
We believe that our communities deserve to have more knowledge and autonomy over our health and wellbeing.
Through making foraging, herbal medicine making, and meditative practices more accessible, we encourage and help our local London community to re-adopt ancestral knowledge and re-learn indigenous practices. We introduce individuals to the plant foods and medicines that grow readily available and abundantly all around us in the city.
The phrase ‘back a yard’ is a Caribbean term that literally translates to mean “the way things are done back home.”
We want to help our local community to feel companionship with the natural world and more connected to our surroundings.
Back a yardd are anti racist, decolonial, trans-inclusive, queer friendly, inter-faith, culturally appreciative and age inclusive. Whilst we will centre the experiences of people of the Global Majority, it is open to everyone.
I f you have any questions, please feel free to send us an email at [email protected]
We hope to see you on a walk with us soon 🌸
