Bach & Beyond

Symphony847 opens its season at the Cressey Center for the Arts in Lake Forest with a conversation across three centuries. Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 sets the terms — then two contemporary composers, Anders Hillborg and Lawrence Axelrod, answer it, reimagining and extending Bach's own material before we return to Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 5 and his Orchestral Suite No. 2 to close the evening. It's a program built for anyone who's ever wondered what Bach might sound like through a 21st-century ear.
