🎤 Join Us for the October 18th Story Slam at BABS'LAB! 🎉
Join us for a magical, fun night of Tales + Art + Treats + Libations. Now in our 8th year, our Story Slams offer a chance for people to share a true story, hone the craft of oral storytelling, and connect with the community. First-timers WELCOME!
Theme: SOCK! That’s right—bring your stories inspired by socks, in every sense of the word! We want to hear how sock fits into your life. Need Ideas?
~ Knock someone’s socks off: Amaze or impress someone:
~ Pull your socks up: Buckle down and make a real effort to improve.
~ Put a sock in it: That time when silence was the best option?
~ Sock it to someone: The time you made a forceful impression or delivered a powerful punch (literally or figuratively!).
~ Sock something away: Saving for something special—or not.
We want to hear yours! You've got 5 minutes. GO.
WHY SOCK?
October marks the start of Socktober, a month-long initiative dedicated to collecting socks and clothing for people experiencing homelessness. This grassroots movement has grown into a nationwide effort to provide essential items to those in need.
We're proud to be partnering with the Women's Center of Jacksonville whose mission is to improves the lives of women through advocacy, support & education.
We are here to inspire even a small act of love, like Donating fab new paisr of socks. It can make a big difference in the lives of our neighbors in need. Let’s come together to make a difference, one pair of socks at a time!

Audience Participation: Vote for your favorite storyteller of the night and help them win a $50.00 Gift Certificate to WOLF & CUB, our long time sponsor and fave downtown vintage retail shop.

HOW A STORY SLAM WORKS?
• Storytellers have 5 to 7 minutes each to tell a TRUE personal story based on a THEME.
• Audience members can prepare a story and enter their name in a hat or decide to sit back and listen.
• 10 people's names are picked from the hat.
• At the end of the evening the audience votes for their favorite storyteller.
• The winner receives a $50.00 gift certificate!
STORY SLAM RULES
•Story must connect to the Theme.
•No notes.
•No props.
•Please no ranting, no preaching, no politicizing.
