Originaire de Shinagawa, à Tokyo, Aya Gloomy propose depuis 2018 une pop expérimentale aux accents DIY, aux textures électroniques et à l'esthétique futuriste. Autrice-compositrice et productrice, elle se fait connaître via le label tokyoïte Big Love, avant de sortir deux projets autoproduits, Tokyo Hakai et Riku No Kotōu. Elle rejoint ensuite le label australien 21 N FUN, fondé par Mahne Frame, avec qui elle collabore régulièrement.
Figure culte de la scène tokyoïte, elle a déjà partagé la scène avec Mykki Blanco, Yves Tumor ou encore Kedr Livanskiy et a fait l’objet d’un livre photo signé Francesca Allen. Elle dirige également Pompom Shop, une boutique vintage de Tokyo, véritable phénomène de société. Rendez-vous au Botanique, pour découvrir, sur scène, son nouvel EP, u are the moonlight, qui sortira à l’été 2025.
Aya was on the cover of IN Magazine in 2020 and has been featured in Vogue, i-D, and Sabukaru Magazine. In 2021, she guest starred in several episodes of Kiko Mizuhara’s Amazon series, Kiko Kikaku. She is also the subject of Francesca Allen’s sold out photography book entitled “Aya”. Aya also operates a trailblazing vintage shop, Pompom Shop, which has a cult following both online and in pop-ups.
Her new EP “u are the moonlight” is out on 21 N Fun August 2025.

Aya Gloomy, afkomstig uit Shinagawa, Tokio, is sinds 2018 opvallend aanwezig in de muziekwereld van het oostelijk halfrond. Haar aanstekelijke pop melodieën en opvallende kledingstijl hebben haar bekendheid gegeven in heel Japan en ver daarbuiten. Ze heeft opgetreden naast Mykki Blanco, Yves Tumor en Kedr Livanskiy in Azië en Australië. Aya’s debuutalbum werd uitgebracht op het Japanse smaakmakende label Big Love. Sindsdien heeft ze zelf twee LP’s uitgebracht, ‘Tokyo Hakai (‘Destruction’)’ en ‘Riku No Kotōu’. Haar meest recente singles zijn uitgebracht op het Australische label 21 N FUN, dat wordt gerund door Aya’s vaste medewerker, kunstenaar Mahne Frame.
Aya stond in 2020 op de cover van IN Magazine en is te zien geweest in Vogue, i-D en Sabukaru Magazine. Ze is ook het onderwerp van Francesca Allen’s uitverkochte fotoboek getiteld ‘Aya’. Ze runt ook een baanbrekende vintagewinkel, Pompom Shop, die zowel online als in pop-ups een cultstatus heeft. Haar nieuwe EP ‘u are the moonlight’ verschijnt op 21 augustus.
