A day of respite, reflection, and discovery for formal and informal caregivers — exploring how the arts can bring joy to caring for people navigating the dementia journey.About the day
Join Arts Health Antigonish (AHA!) for a day intentionally designed around rest, play, and connection. Rooted in what was discovered through AHA!'s Arts Canopy program — offered in care homes across northeastern Nova Scotia from 2015 to 2020 — the day weaves together learning and lived experience in a gentle, unhurried pace.
What's included
- An overview of the arts in health and dementia care
- Live demonstrations by artists from the Arts Canopy program, showing how to connect meaningfully with people living with dementia through music, poetry, storytelling, and more
- Guided walks on the land at FireLoch, creating space for reflection and relationship-building in a natural setting
- Opportunities to connect with other caregivers who share your commitment to engaging more fully and joyfully with people on the dementia journey
- The unveiling of a new resource based on the Arts Canopy program, to support you in your caregiving practice
