About this Event
Judaism conceives of “four worlds,” integrated aspects of reality that are associated with four levels of our being: body, mind, heart and spirit. This introductory session will utilize a variety of Jewish contemplative practices and teachings to explore this ancient map and how its mystical and mundane applications can support us in infusing all dimensions of our lives with awareness of and connection to the divine. Our time together will include a presentation, discussion, chanting, and a contemplative practice in cultivating “devekut” (profound divine connection) in all four worlds.
Rebecca Schisler is a meditation teacher, artist, and Jewish educator. A devoted contemplative practitioner, she is a core faculty member at the Institute for Jewish Spirituality and a faculty member at Or HaLev. In addition, she currently teaches mindfulness at Stanford School of Medicine and has taught with Pardes Center for Jewish Educators, Wilderness Torah, Urban Adamah and Awakened Heart Project. A rabbinical student at ALEPH, Rebecca is passionate about integrating ancestral wisdom traditions with innovative approaches to personal and collective healing and liberation, and teaches Jewish spirituality as an embodied, transformational, and accessible path, with relevant and timely wisdom for all.
