Linda Sollars: Adventure Planning — Cross-Country and Farther
Join JetBlue Airways Captain, aviation educator, and long-distance pilot Linda Sollars for an inspiring and highly practical session on what it takes to plan and fly beyond the ordinary cross-country.
Linda will share the story behind one of the most remarkable general aviation journeys in recent years: building her own aircraft in Johannesburg, South Africa, and then flying it more than 9,000 miles to Oshkosh, Wisconsin, for EAA AirVenture 2022.
Over 11 days, Linda’s route crossed southern Africa, the Atlantic Ocean, the Caribbean, and the United States before arriving at the world’s greatest aviation celebration.
Whether you are a student pilot, aircraft owner, experienced aviator, flight instructor, builder, or aviation enthusiast, this session offers a rare look at the mindset and preparation required to take flight planning to the next level.
Whether it's your first cross-country or your next great adventure, you'll discover how to:
- Choose destinations that inspire you
- Plan rewarding cross-country journeys
- Build exciting multi-day flying adventures
- Explore international destinations with confidence
- Travel smarter so you can enjoy the journey as much as the destination
- Create flying memories you'll be talking about for years
- Hear lessons learned from Linda's remarkable flight from South Africa to Oshkosh
- Discover how thoughtful planning leads to safer, smarter, and more rewarding adventures
Linda brings a unique perspective from both airline and general aviation operations.
