Autumn Wreath Workshop at Gibside Stables

💥 Gibside Stables is approximately a 20-minute walk from the reception building and includes mixed terrain and a steep-incline, so we’d recommend arriving onsite at least 30 minutes before the workshop begins and wearing sturdy footwear.

Join us for a relaxed and creative workshop as we celebrate the rich colours, textures, and natural beauty of autumn by creating a beautiful fresh wreath for your home.

In this hands-on session, you'll learn how to bind a selection of seasonal foliage onto a freshly mossed wreath ring, building a natural and abundant base for your design. Don't worry if you've never made a wreath before—I'll guide you step by step through the process, making this workshop perfect for both complete beginners and those with previous floristry experience.

Once your foliage base is complete, you'll have the opportunity to personalise your wreath with a choice of autumnal embellishments, adding colour, texture, and your own creative touch. Whether you love a beautifully natural, foliage-filled design or something a little more decorative, you'll create a unique fresh wreath to adorn your autumn door and welcome family and friends throughout the season.

This workshop is the perfect excuse to slow down, embrace the changing season, and enjoy a few mindful hours immersed in creativity. Think crisp autumn days, beautiful scenery, and plenty of gorgeous foliage!

You'll leave with a stunning seasonal wreath to take pride of place on your front door and all the satisfaction of saying, "I made that!"

Our workshops at The Northern Flower Garden are always fun and supportive where I demonstrate professional floristry techniques, share the tips and tricks and we’ll keep the creativity flowing with crafted drinks and homemade bakes from the National Trust team at Gibside.

Admission & Access Information

• When you arrive at Gibside, please show proof of your workshop booking at the welcome buildings to gain free admission to the site.
• If you’re a National Trust member, please have your membership card scanned at admissions as usual.

Accessibility

• An access bus is sometimes available to help visitors reach the Stables. It runs from the Market Place up to the Stables at quarter past the hour, and back again at half past the hour.
• If you’d like to use the bus, please email before your visit to confirm it’s running on the day. If it isn’t, we’ll do our best to help arrange an alternative for you.

Biosecurity

• To protect and conserve the landscape of Gibside, we bag and seal all plant material that enters and leaves the site. Therefore we ask you to also seal your designs in the bags we will provide as you leave.
