Get hands‑on with vibrant making activities, dress up in your brightest, boldest colours, accessorise with your handmade creations, and join us on the dance floor as we celebrate community, creativity and the joy of being together.
Carnival Costumes
Create a flower headdress and parade-ready prop, alongside artist Yves Ngoo, a maker of costumes for dance, theatre and film, known for her fabulous flair for fashion and textiles.
Plus, the wonderful Polly Ord Painting will be on hand with a selection of carnival-inspired designs including rainbow bursts, floral flourishes and feathered plumes to complete the look.
Rhythm from Rubbish Workshop
Get ready to make some noise!
Join the wonderfully playful Hannabiell & Yilis from Ladies of Midnight Blue for a high energy family workshop where everyday objects become extraordinary instruments.
Bring along something interesting from your recycling or borrow one of our found-sound creations, then discover how to transform junk into joyful music. Together you'll explore simple beats, rhythm games and group percussion, creating a one-of-a-kind soundtrack using bottles, tins, tubes, buckets, and all sorts of surprising objects.
Shake it, rattle it, roll it, squeeze it, clunk it, grate it, click it, bang it, beat it, stomp, sing and dance your heart out as your very own Rhythm from Rubbish Band comes to life.
Carnival Parade
Once you've found your groove, the fun doesn't stop there. Everyone is invited to join our lively carnival parade, making music all the way from Level 1 down to Baltic's Ground Floor as we celebrate the final week of the summer holidays together.
No musical experience needed, just bring your curiosity, your creativity and plenty of carnival spirit.
