The Swedish pianist’s father was Polish, and the Polish connections in this programme are strong: Scottish piano virtuoso Ronald Stevenson’s suite on Paderewski’s sole opera, a selection of works by Szymanowski, and the intricate Second Sonata (1953) of Grażyna Bacewicz, whose complete works for piano Peter Jablonski is currently recording.
