Autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) are a group of developmental disabilities that can cause significant social, communication and behavioral challenges. People with ASDs handle information in their brain differently than other people. Someone on the spectrum is 7 times more likely to need emergency services and it is important that firefighters understand the best way to interact with a child or adult diagnosed with a spectrum disorder
