In 2023, Craig Santos Perez's book, "from unincorporated territory [åmot]," won the National Book Award for Poetry—the first Pacific Islander to be recognized in any of the categories. Many of the book's themes—environmental injustice, healing from colonialism and militarization—will be touched on during this talk.

===== About the Speaker =====
Dr. Craig Santos Perez is a Chamoru from the Pacific Island of Guåhan (Guam). He is the editor of nine anthologies, including Indigenous Pacific Islander Eco-Literatures. For the past twenty years, he has been involved in demilitarization, sovereignty, environmental justice and climate change movements across the Pacific.
