About this Event
The ship Queen Elizabeth 2 (QE2) was the last great transatlantic liner from a vanishing era. In 1982 her passenger service was interrupted when she was requisitioned by the British government to take 3,000 troops to the South Atlantic during the Falklands war. Based on interviews with the volunteers who crewed the ship, The QE2 in the Falklands War: Troopship to the South Atlantic presents the captivating story of the QE2βs wartime service. The book was written by two members of the crew. David Humphreys was a petty officer in the finance department. He later became a professor in environmental studies at the Open University. Ronald Warwick was the chief officer during the voyage. He later became the commodore of the Cunard Line.
