Patricia Skalka is the award-winning author of the popular Dave Cubiak Door County Mystery series and the novella STARSONG, the story of a young girl devastated by the sudden death of her mother. Patricia’s books have won both the Midwest Book Award for Best Thriller/Mystery and the Edna Ferber Fiction Book Award. USA Today named DEATH STALKS DOOR COUNTY, the first Cubiak mystery, as the book to represent Wisconsin in its special feature: “50 States/50 Books to Read.”Honored as a Notable Wisconsin Author by the Wisconsin State Library Association, Patricia currently serves on the Governing Board of the Society of Midland Authors. She is a member of The Authors Guild, Sisters in Crime, and Wisconsin Writers Association. Patricia turned to fiction after a successful career as a Reader’s Digest Staff Writer and freelance author whose work appeared in Working Women, Glamour, McCall’s, and other national publications. Her nonfiction books include NURSES ON OUR OWN, the story of two Chicago Nurses who started one of the first nurse practitioner offices in the country.
