The book contains humorous anecdotes as well as 60 historic photos, including of the survivor orchestra in which my father played, with the legendary maestro Leonard Bernstein at the helm.
Janet Horvath, the Minnesota Orchestra’s associate principal cello from 1980 to 2012, is a lifelong performing classical musician, soloist, author, and speaker. She appeared as a soloist with orchestra, in recital with piano, and in chamber music ensembles throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia. “Ms. Horvath’s outgoing musical personality and passionate intensity flavors every aspect of her musicianship, and draws from her instrument a tone, which has the texture and feeling of rich golden honey…”

John Kaul is an American former lobbyist, artist, and filmmaker from Minnesota. He worked for 48 years at the Minnesota State Capitol, serving as a lobbyist for various clients and causes. Kaul has pursued a parallel career in the arts, creating kinetic sculptures, documentary films, photography, paintings, and envelope art, with exhibitions including a 2024 show at Groveland Gallery in Minneapolis.
