August In the Outdoors: History Hunt

Be “In the Outdoors” all season long, rain or shine, you can’t go wrong! It’s great for all ages, through all of life’s stages. Bring your scout group, or your whole family. Experience all that Atwood Park has to offer during a FREE monthly series of activities that highlight different aspects of the park. Bring the entire family for a few hours of fun in nature!
Come out to Atwood Center and Park on 815 Day to explore some of the history of the place we call home! Rockford and its surrounding areas have seen countless changes from the groups that have inhabited this land in the past, and Atwood Park is no different. Take a trek back in time to see how the park was shaped by indigenous groups, soldiers of Camp Grant, and Civilian Conservation Corps workers, and more.
Please meet at the Atwood Center (2685 New Milford School Road) and wear comfortable closed-toe/closed-heel shoes, weather appropriate clothing, and a desire to enjoy the outdoors with us!
In the Outdoors, events are supported by Rock River Disposal. This event is FREE. Pre-registration is highly recommended and appreciated.
