SWEENEY TODD

An infamous tale, Sweeney Todd, an unjustly exiled barber, returns to nineteenth century London, seeking vengeance against the lecherous judge who framed him and ravaged his young wife. The road to revenge leads Todd to Mrs. Lovett, a resourceful proprietress of a failing pie shop, above which, he opens a new barber practice. Mrs. Lovett's luck sharply shifts when Todd's thirst for blood inspires the integration of an ingredient into her meat pies that has the people of London lining up... and the carnage has only just begun!
Show Dates: October 9th, 10th, 16th, 17th 23rd and 24th.
We will have auditions on June 29th and June 30th at The Stage Door. You do not need to show up for both days. Please come prepared with:
* A one minute song. You may sing a cappella, or we can use YouTube for backing tracks.
*Cold reads and improvisational games, emphasizing character choices, teamwork, and the ability to take direction.
*Please come prepared to move and for a short dance audition.
We are looking for actors who can embody characters onstage, have a strong presence, and are not afraid to take risks. We are looking to fill principal roles as well as ensemble. The

• Sweeney Todd (Benjamin Barker)
Age/Gender: 30s–50s, Male
Voice: Bass-Baritone
Vibe: A wrongfully imprisoned, brooding, and vengeful barber. Dark, dangerous, and fiercely intelligent.
• Mrs. Lovett
Age/Gender: 30s–50s, Female
Voice: Mezzo-Soprano/Alto with a strong belt
Vibe: Unscrupulous, entrepreneurial pie shop owner. Deeply in love with Todd with dark comedic chops.
• Anthony Hope
Age/Gender: 20s, Male
Voice: Tenor
Vibe: A youthful, naive, and romantic sailor who rescues Todd and falls for Johanna.
• Johanna
Age/Gender: Appears 16–21, Female
Voice: Soprano
Vibe: Todd’s long-lost, innocent, and bird-like daughter who is trapped as Judge Turpin's ward.
• Judge Turpin
Age/Gender: 50s–65, Male
Voice: Bass/Bass-Baritone
Vibe: The corrupt, lecherous authority figure who wrongfully imprisoned Todd.
• Tobias Ragg
Age/Gender: Appears 12–18, Male
Voice: Tenor
Vibe: Pirelli's vulnerable young apprentice who ultimately becomes devoted to Todd and Mrs. Lovett.
• The Beadle (Bamford)
Age/Gender: 40s–55, Male
Voice: Tenor
Vibe: Judge Turpin's pompous and sycophantic lackey.
• Beggar Woman (Lucy Barker)
Age/Gender: 35s–50s, Female
Voice: Mezzo-Soprano
Vibe: A deranged, unhinged vagrant who roams London with a dark secret.

Voice: Tenor/High Baritone
Vibe: A flamboyant, charismatic Italian rival barber hiding a secret past.

Vibe: The sinister owner of the local asylum.

All voice parts needed (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass). They are the heartbeat of the show, providing major choral weight and demanding strong vocal and acting chops
