SYNOPSIS: David Mamet's Glengarry Glen Ross is a Pulitzer Prize winning, gritty, fast-paced drama about four desperate Chicago real estate salesmen competing in a high-stakes, cutthroat sales contest. The clock is ticking, their jobs are on the line, their leads are garbage, and each man will do whatever it takes to be at the top of the board.
NEEDED: 7 Men
CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:
Shelly "The Machine" Levene (or Shelley) (50s): An older salesman experiencing a long losing streak, he is desperate, manipulative, and ultimately vulnerable.
Ricky Roma (40s): The top salesman, Roma is charming, slick, and ruthless, manipulating clients through intellectual, winding pitches.
Dave Moss (40s-50s): A cynical, angry salesman who plots to steal the best sales leads and sell them to a competitor.
George Aaronow (50s): A timid, insecure salesman who is easily intimidated by Moss into participating in the robbery.
John Williamson (30s-40s): The stoic, disliked office manager who holds the power to distribute leads and serves as the antagonist.
James Lingk (Early 40s): A naive customer who is targeted by Roma and tries to back out of a sale.
Baylen (40s-50s): A tough police detective investigating the office robbery.
NOTE: Ages listed are flexible in some cases. The ages given are more of a demographic breakdown taken from previous productions.
IMPORTANT NOTE: In an effort to keep Corn Stock a safe space for minors, it is the theatre’s policy to conduct a background check for all volunteers. If you are cast in the production, Corn Stock will need your full legal name, email address, and phone number before rehearsals can proceed. An outside company (InquireHire) performs all background checks by sending you an email and/or text message with a link to fill out the necessary background check form. All information is sent through a secure server and CST sees none of your information. Background checks only flag crimes against children and no other records. Casting will be made official pending a successful background check.
