About the Show:
THE MINUTES, the record-breaking hit production from Steppenwolf Theatre Company, takes a hard look at the inner workings of a city council meeting and the hypocrisy, greed and ambition that bubble to the surface when a newcomer to the small town of Big Cherry starts to ask the wrong questions.
Requirements and Commitments:
Actors should prepare a 30-second comedic monologue, preferably from a dark comedy, and bring a full list of their daily schedule, commitments, and conflicts through March 31, 2025. Rehearsals will begin the week of January 20 and be held on weeknights and weekends following an efficient schedule that will be handed out following the read through. Tech weekend will be March 21-23 and performances will be held March 28 (evening) and March 29 (matinee and evening).
Casting:
Gaslight is committed to inclusive productions and does not discriminate in its casting practices. Gaslight will whenever possible⸺and not specifically dictated by the playwright or the plot⸺dynamically cast actors outside written gender, race, age, sexual orientation or identity, and physical ability who also fit the requirements of the role and the chemistry of the cast. The Minutes is written with 3 women and 8 men of rather specific ages, genders, and race. Specific character notes have been identified below, and casting will be based on the most appropriate mix of actors with the characters as written. A more detailed character sheet will be provided at auditions.
