The Becoming Arts Collective is casting Shiva for an Atheist, a new play by Darrin J. Friedman, directed by Barbara Burgess Lefebvre, as part of our 2026/27 season!

ABOUT THE PLAY
When her dying grandmother finally reveals decades of family secrets, Eve discovers that beneath fractured relationships lies something more enduring: a thread of love that survived even through loss, silence, and abandonment. As Eve and her wife prepare to welcome a child of their own, she embarks on a journey into her family’s past, not only to break the cycle but to recover the bonds that were nearly forgotten. Shiva is a moving exploration of family’s generational complexities and the transformative power of love to heal across generations, proving that even lost love can light the way forward.

COMPENSATION: All roles are non-union and will be paid a small stipend based on a share of the ticket sale revenue. Details upon casting.
ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT:
Darrin J. Friedman is an award-winning playwright and screenwriter. He is a Woodward / Newman Award Finalist for his play “The Butterfly Anchor,” and his short film "A Mother's Love," which he not only wrote but directed, has been repeatedly recognized for its screenplay in film festivals and competitions alike. He received his MFA in writing for stage and screen from Point Park University in 2023. He is also the Founder and Executive Director of The Becoming Arts Collective.
