Join us for our first auditions of the 2025 season! This collection of one act plays will feature an ensemble cast of 6-8 actors. In addition to the rehearsal and performance period (December 10th - February 8th), actors will need to be available to participate in the American Association of Community Theatre’s one act competition circuit, beginning with the state festival in late February or early March.
’dentity Crisis by Christopher Durang, directed by Ryan Hull
Recovering from a nervous breakdown, Jane is nursed and nagged by her relentlessly cheerful mother, and confused by her oversexed brother—who keeps changing into her father, her grandfather and her mother’s French lover. Eventually all (including Jane’s psychiatrist, who undergoes a sex change operation and swaps places with his wife) change characters again and become Jane herself—leaving her with no identity at all and pointing up the near impossibility of self-identification in our uncertain times.
Conflict by Wade Bradford, directed by Deborah Jensen
A very amusing explanation of how we crave stories in which the protagonist experiences all kinds of hardship.
Out at Sea by Slawomir Mrozek, directed by Karen Bain
Three men starving on a life raft must determine which of them is to become dinner for the other two. One is thin, one is medium, and one is fat. After the men employ a hilariously logical series of civil procedures to arrive at a solution, guess which one has to volunteer!
What to expect:
Auditions will consist of readings from the script, which are available upon request. No memorization is required in advance.
Actors should arrive on time, and bring a calendar of any conflicts between now and June 28th, 2025. (Note, this extended timeframe is to account for potential competition dates - you will not be needed this entire six month span.) Headshots and resumes are welcome, but not required. Rehearsals will be scheduled based on the actors' availability and may include days, evenings, and weekends.
