Based on the 1980 Comedy classic
9 to 5 The Musical, with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton, is an unpredictable story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era. An outrageous look at the life of the working woman, based on the 1980 comedy classic.
Pushed to the boiling point, three female coworkers concoct a plan to get even with their sexist and egotistical boss. In a hilarious turn of events, Violet, Judy and Doralee live out their wildest fantasy taking control of their lives! With an energetic score by superstar Dolly Parton, this high-energy musical celebrates female empowerment and equality in the workplace. With such songs as "Shine Like the Sun," "Backwoods Barbie," and the title song "9 to 5," this show promises to be a rip-roarin', toe-tappin' good time!
We are seeking a diverse and multi-racial cast for this production.
AUDTION DATES:
Sunday, January 12th and Wednesday, January 15th at 6:30pm, with callbacks on Sunday, January 19th at 6:30pm, if necessary.
AUDITION LOCATION:
Cheney Hall, 177 Hartford Rd., Manchester, CT.
Please be prepared to sing 32 bars of music in a style in keeping with the show. Be sure to bring your sheet music with you, as an accompanist will be provided. Those auditioning should bring their resume; headshots will be taken at the theater. Please wear clothing that will be comfortable for dance auditions. All roles are available.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:
VIOLET
Seeking a female identifying actor to play the company's Head Secretary and Mr. Hart's Administrative
Assistant, she is a single mother and typically stands up for what she believes in. Attractive, strong,
ambitious.
Age: 40 to 50 (Vocal range: F3 to D5)
DORALEE
Seeking a female identifying actor to play a young, sexy spitfire who works at Mr. Hart's office. She is
proof that there is more to a woman than just her looks.
Age: 25 to 35 (Vocal range: G3 to E5)
JUDY
Seeking a female identifying actor to play the "new" girl at the firm, she has been burned by her
husband's affair and is searching for personal empowerment. Insecure, determined, and hopeful.
Age: 35 to 45 (Vocal range: Ab3 to F5)
FRANKLIN HART, JR.
Seeking a male identifying actor to play one of the firm's executives and a notorious chauvinist. He is
capable of faking charm but usually shows his true colors as an arrogant, self-absorbed boss.

ROZ KEITH
Seeking a female identifying actor to play the attentive office gossip queen and snitch. She has an
unrequited love for Mr. Hart and will do anything she can to win his approval.

Seeking a male identifying actor to play a handsome, young office accountant. Genuine and nice, and
smitten with Violet. Also a member of the ensemble

Seeking a male identifying actor to play Doralee's attractive husband. He is very supportive of her
professional pursuits. May also be a member of the ensemble

Seeking a male identifying actor to play Violet’s awkward teenage son. May also be a member of the ensemble

a little less hair and a little more paunch than he did ten years ago. May also be a member of the ensemble.
