The 11th Athens Area Stand Down for homeless and near homeless is October 2, 2026 at the Athens County Fairgrounds!
This event provides goods to help the homeless and those at risk of being homeless make it through the winter. This includes boots, winter jackets, toiletries, hats, gloves, blankets, canned food, socks and other donated items which vary from year to year.
Mobile medical vans will be present for general exams. Flu/covid/tetanus shots are usually available as well. Haircuts too.
Agencies provide info for assistance such as heatng assistance.
10-Noon for Veterans Only
Noon-2 pm Veterans and community.
Buses run free that day. But if you are not near a bus stop you can call 740-597-2404 the week of the event to arrange a free ride with Athens on Demand.
We served over 100 veterans last year!
