Please join the Mt. Diablo Astronomical Society for our August 26 general meeting featuring Martin Sirk a researcher at U. C. Berkeley’s Space Science Laboratory, who will discuss what black holes are, how they work, why we think they are real, and the effect they have on galaxy evolution. He also will briefly talk about what was once called the “missing mass” problem, now called Dark Matter. Why do we think that most of the Universe is invisible? The meeting starts at 7:15 p.m. with a short “What’s Up?” presented by MDAS member Ken Coates, who will discuss why landing on the Moon is hard, and review the past, present, and future of Moon landings. Our meetings are held in the Lindsay Wildlife Experience Community Room, 1931 First Avenue, Walnut Creek, CA 94597The Mt.
