Live Performance by Lokal
Out of Maryland, LOKAL stands as living proof that raw talent, ambition, and relentless drive can still break through in today’s Haitian music industry. As one of the DMV’s most exciting emerging Konpa bands, LOKAL has built a growing following through grassroots hustle, strong community ties, and a powerful presence on social media.
Known for their high-energy live performances and tight musicianship, LOKAL has quickly earned a reputation as a must-see act. Many fans and insiders say their sound and stage presence haven’t been felt in the region since the days of GP Express in the 1980s. With every performance, the band continues to raise the standard for Konpa in the DMV.
Driven by a do-it-yourself mentality and a commitment to authenticity, LOKAL blends classic and modern Konpa with subtle influences of American soul. The band features vocalist James Venord, keyboardist and bandleader Cedryc Lafontant, and drummer Mickey Walker, guitarist Henry Hanna, bassist Velly Derival, conga player Billy, and percussionist Philippe Constant (Pikaso).
What truly sets LOKAL apart is their maturity—both musically and professionally. Despite being early in their journey, the band delivers a polished, cohesive sound that surprises new audiences and keeps fans coming back. On stage, that maturity translates into an unforgettable experience defined by energy, chemistry, and passion.
With growing momentum and strong support behind them, LOKAL is not just another band on the scene—they’re helping shape the future of Konpa in the DMV and beyond.
