A hands-on visual arts and cultural workshop exploring Imbolc, an early Celtic seasonal observance marking the return of light and the approach of spring.
What to expect:
• Brief talk on Imbolc and Brigid as goddess and saint
• Create St. Brigid’s Crosses using wheat stalks
• Create Brídeóg dolls made from raffia, with optional cloth dressing
• Candle lighting and traditional prayer
• Quiet reflection and optional sharing
• Oatcakes or bannock, milk and honey, and oat and honey tea with plant-based options
This workshop is not religious. It focuses on Celtic folklore, seasonal traditions, and how cultural practices evolve and endure through visual art, storytelling, and making.
Ages 12+. Participants under 12 may attend with a parent or guardian. Please reach out in advance to discuss participation.
Part of the ArtWorks East Exploring Our Cultural Roots Workshop Series.
Hosted by AWE member Cairista MacIsaac, owner of Good Karma Handmade Goods & Art.
