About this Event
Eli Cecil is a contemporary glass artist whose work explores the delicate balance between humanity and nature through intricate, organic forms. Based in South Florida, Cecil uses hot glass techniques—combining glassblowing, sculpting, and fusing—to create evocative sculptures that often mirror natural structures such as trees and bonsai. His signature Bonsai Series reflects themes of growth, sustainability, and transformation, blending technical precision with a meditative sense of balance. Through his innovative approach to glass as both material and metaphor, Cecil invites viewers to reflect on the interconnectedness of life and the enduring beauty found in natural cycles.
Cecil’s artistry has earned him significant recognition within the contemporary glass art community. In 2018, he received the Artist of the Future Award from the Imagine Museum and an Emerging Artist Residency from the Duncan McClellan Gallery. His work has been exhibited nationally, including at Habatat Galleries in Michigan and the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County. In 2021, he completed his first public art installation, Take Flight, for the Jupiter Maltz Theatre in Florida. As Creative Director at the Benzaiten Center for Creative Arts and a recipient of the 2024 Artist Innovation Award, Cecil continues to shape the field of glass art—mentoring emerging artists and advancing conversations around sustainability, community, and creative growth.
We invite you to join us on April 12th to hear from a master glass artist and to witness them work in our hotshop. Lectures begin promptly at noon followed by hot glass demos until 4pm. This event is free and open to the public of all ages!
