Join David Greenhalgh, Associate Curator, International Art, to discuss the shifting legacy of French Post-Impressionist Paul Gauguin.
Tracing the artist’s Impressionist beginnings to his Tahitian visions, David will share how Gauguin belonged to the art and themes of his time. Focusing on the impact that exploring new mediums made on his work, David will examine Gauguin’s time in Tahiti and how this new environment shaped his work.
Gauguin’s World: Tōna Iho, Tōna Ao is curated by Henri Loyrette, a former director of the Louvre Museum and the Musée d’Orsay. The exhibition is on display at the National Gallery from 29 Jun – 7 Oct 2024.
