This Month’s Workshop: Colour Conversations — A Playful Watercolour Workshop
Colour Conversations is a playful, beginner-friendly watercolour workshop led by artist Mandy Johnson, designed to explore the expressive power of colour in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
Known for her vibrant, joyful practice, Mandy invites participants to experiment freely with watercolour through layering, blending, and intuitive mark-making. Guided by gentle prompts, guests will create their own abstract artwork inspired by mood, memory, and imagination — focusing on flow, freedom, and enjoyment rather than perfection.
The workshop is designed as a space to unwind, reconnect with creativity, and explore the emotional language of colour.
Guests will leave with:
- A finished abstract watercolour artwork
- A relaxed and playful creative experience
- A renewed sense of creative confidence
No experience needed — this workshop is open to everyone.
About the Artist
Mandy Johnson is an artist with a studio in St Albans, known for her joyful, bold and interactive work. Working across murals, public art and painting, her colourful practice embraces playfulness, humour and a childlike sense of curiosity. Mandy creates work for exhibitions, festivals, live events and public art trails across the UK. In 2026, her collaborative murals were featured at events held at both Tate Modern and the Truman Brewery.
Before becoming a full-time artist, Mandy worked in leadership roles across the charity and social impact sectors, including at Deloitte, Change.org and several national charities. That background continues to shape her creative approach, with her artwork embracing playfulness, bold colour and a childlike sense of joy and curiosity. Whether painting a city-centre mural, exhibiting original artworks or creating colourful installations for live events, Mandy’s work balances professionalism with warmth — and always leaves room for a little bit of silliness.
