Art San Diego to Showcase Contemporary Artists this November

WHAT:

Art San Diego, now celebrating its 16th year, is the region’s most acclaimed and longest-running contemporary art and design fair and the only marketplace where artists, art publishers, galleries, art students, and dealers all come together to celebrate and showcase postmodern art. Produced by Redwood Art Group, with presenting sponsor UBS Wealth Management, Art San Diego is a unique experience that serves to enhance the artistic culture of “America’s Finest City” while it also raises thousands of dollars through its Access to Art program, via student artwork sales and donations, to help Monarch School and Humble Design, both of which are non-profits that benefit unhoused families.

Art San Diego is a 3-day annual event featuring approximately 500 leading contemporary artists, fine art photographers, and designers; it offers dynamic programming that includes curated exhibits, local talent, and student artists. It attracts more than 5,000 high-net-worth collectors, giving them insights into San Diego’s vibrant and diverse cultural art scene alongside an exciting collection of international galleries.

WHERE and WHEN:

Art San Diego (ASD) will take place at the San Diego Convention Center in downtown San Diego, 111 Harbor Dr, San Diego, CA 92101, from Friday Nov. 1st through Sunday, November 3rd. The Friday evening VIP opening reception is hosted by UBS Wealth Management, Pacific Desert market.

WHO:
Typically 90-100 galleries and individuals, representing approximately 500 artists, participate in the fair. The full exhibitor list will be posted in mid to late September. Redwood Art Group is still accepting applications. Already confirmed exhibitors include:

Artavita / World Wide Art – a publisher of curated contemporary art anthologies, featuring artists from around the world, promotes artists online, in print, and at leading art fairs and is a multiple year ASD exhibitor taking a major presence at the fair.

Jason Perez Art Collective – an “Outsider Art Collective” based in Miami has done ASD on and off for multiple years; this is his first return post-pandemic.

Walter Redondo Fine Art Collection – a multiple year ASD exhibitor, this formerly famous tennis pro turned artist is based in San Diego.

Several international exhibitors also will bring their unique style and range of artworks to the fair for their first time in San Diego, including:

• Sachie Yoshino Gallery – well-known in Tokyo, Japan, NYC, Miami
• Van Leeuwen Art – well-known in Zurich, Switzerland, also has done Redwood’s NY show
• Mah o Mahi Art Gallery – Iran, and
• Red Art Istanbul – a well-known Turkish art group that has exhibited in Istanbul and Miami.

SPECIAL PROGRAMMING FEATURES:

Two Fairs Under One Roof:

• ART SAN DIEGO GALLERY PAVILION – features well-established galleries, art publishers, and artist collectives. It's why thousands of industry insiders in search of cutting-edge contemporary art and design from galleries worldwide flock to San Diego each fall.
• THE [SOLO] PAVILION: After its successful launch in 2018, the [SOLO] Pavilion has been officially incorporated to provide the ultimate venue for independent artists, fine art photographers, functional object artists, and designers to be discovered—not only by gallery owners and art dealers but also by collectors and enthusiasts in search of exciting new works.

Access to Art: Art San Diego, in partnership with , works with selected charities and the families they serve to share opportunities in art, design, business development, and more. This year brings a returning collaboration among Monarch School, Humble Design, and local artists from ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station. The Spotlight Program: Since its launch in 2016, the Spotlight Program, curated by senior executives at Redwood Art Group, has continued to be a highlight of Art San Diego’s programming and events. This year’s 4-5 recipients will be selected based on their cutting-edge talent and creative innovation; choices may feature tech, unique materials, the age of the artist, using found objects, and/or mixed media of cultural, historical and modern elements.

Local Talent: Initiated in 2019 and now a feature of ASD, the Local Talent showcase further amplifies San Diego's exceptional artistic talent, giving artists who engage in art as their career and who demonstrate remarkable talent in their field of work an opportunity to exhibit at San Diego's only contemporary fine art fair. These are also the artists who dedicate time to volunteering with children from Monarch School.

Music: The Jon Walters Third Coast Jazz Band will be on hand Opening Night and each day to “jazz up” the place!
