Art Lab: Botanical Bookbinding
Join us for a free, two-hour art and science workshop! In this workshop, you will create a small bound notebook. While you work, hear from scientists from the Illinois Natural History Survey Herbarium and the Carl R. Woese Institute from Genomic Biology. Learn how scientists from the mid-1800s through today have collected, cataloged, and preserved botanical samples. View a selection of artifacts from the INHS herbarium collection and take a nature walk through Busey Woods to gain inspiration for creating your own herbarium notebook.
All materials are provided. Ages 16+. This program is sponsored in part by the Urbana Arts and Culture Commission. If you will need disability-related accommodations in order to participate in this event, please contact Corinne Campbell at [email protected] or Julia Pollack at [email protected]. Early requests are strongly encouraged to allow sufficient time to meet your access needs.
