From the artist, Paul Vugteveen: I'm excited to let you know that, earlier this year, I received a Kalamazoo Artistic Development Initiative grant, a program of the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo, to develop my ongoing photography project that uses diabetic test strip signs as the primary subject matter. (I have been removing and collecting the signs from public spaces since 2019!) For the project, I've been printing my photography onto diabetic supply packaging, information inserts, and other diabetic materials using the cyanotype process.
At the show, I will be releasing a limited edition 16 page zine with 100% of proceeds going to Type 1 International and DIABETICGUY.ORG. Zines will be sold for $20 each.
