A full-day creative exploration of trees in art history, creative writing, and your own imagination.
About this Event

Join Jill, Katie and Elspeth for a day of art, poetry, conversation and gentle exploration, inspired by the stories held within trees and the landscapes around us.

Together we'll spend time looking, listening, wandering and making. Through art history, poetry and creative practice, we'll explore the many ways trees have shaped artists, writers and our own imaginations.

The day will include:

  • An inspiring art history talk
  • Poetry readings and discussion
  • A relaxed walk to either Westwood or the Quaker Garden (depending on participant needs and interests)
  • Dedicated creative time to draw, write, print, collage, read, reflect or simply think
  • Time to come together to share ideas, stories and creative responses

Whether you're an experienced artist or writer, or simply curious to explore creativity in a welcoming environment, this day is for you. There is no expectation to produce finished work - just an invitation to notice, experiment and enjoy the process.

We'll also invite participants to contribute their responses to the growing Tree Stories Digital Forest, creating a lasting record of the day's discoveries and reflections.

What to bring:

  • A packed lunch and drinks
  • Comfortable clothing and suitable footwear
  • Some materials will be provided, but you may wish to bring your own sketchbook or notebook, along with any favourite drawing or writing materials
  • Your favourite image or poem about a tree, if you have one.

No writing or artistic experience is needed. Suitable for ages 16+. If you book on and then find you are no longer able to make it, please cancel your ticket on Eventbrite so we can release the ticket to someone else. Thank you.

Come and spend a day slowing down, connecting with nature, and discovering the stories that grow where art, poetry and trees meet.
