On November 4th, at 11:30 am EST, Dr. Low's talk will discuss understanding emotion regulation in context. It draws on how emotion regulation is a predictor of our health and well-being.
Dr Rachel Low is a Senior Lecturer at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. She completed her Master's degree in developmental psychology and PhD in social psychology at the University of Auckland. She also holds a postgraduate diploma in Applied Behaviour Analysis and worked as a behaviour therapist. Rachel’s research examines emotion regulation processes as they unfold in social interactions, including romantic relationships, parent-child relationships, and children's peer relationships, and how different emotion regulation strategies shape important outcomes such as personal and interpersonal goals, health and wellbeing. She is also interested in understanding how interparental conflict spills over to influence parent responsiveness and children’s development over time.
