Architects Talks: Collective for Architecture Lebanon

Through the interdisciplinary lenses of sociology, politics and economics, Collective for Architecture Lebanon (CAL) will talk about national narratives and their impact on the built environment in the Arab world, as well as the emergence of sustainable practices in the region.

Free, booking essential. Doors will open at 6pm.

The exhibition Images de Tunisie at the Zaha Hadid Foundation will extend its opening hours to 8pm (last entry 7.50pm) that evening as part of London Festival of Architecture's LFA Lates in Clekenwell, entry is free.

Shereen Doummar, CAL, Co-Founder and Director
Shereen Doummar is a practicing architect currently based in London. She is the director of ATMA heading several projects in the Ivory Coast, the UK and Lebanon. She's a graduate of the AA School of Architecture in London and the laureate of the RPBW bursary. She previously worked with the UK based firms Studio Jenny Jones, REAL Foundation, Zaha Hadid Architects and REX. She has been exhibited at the Beit Beirut Museum and has spoken at various conferences at Edinburgh University, AA School, ALBA and at the AUB.

Elias Tamer, CAL, Co-Founder
Elias Tamer is an architect currently based between London and Beirut. He has received a Diploma Commendation the Honours Nomination from the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London. He previously worked at Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) in New York, Michaelis Boyd and Heatherwick Studio in London, as well as on several projects in Beirut. His work has been exhibited at Omran’19 and published in Real Review. He is now working at ATMA.

Entry to the building: Access to the site and building is via the black metal gate facing onto the street. If this gate is closed, please press the buzzer to the right of the gate and wait for a reply. The door will then open automatically.

Accessibility: Our building is step free and wheelchair accessible. There is a 7cm step from the street to our main entry gate. Please contact us in advance if you require the use our step-free alternative entry gate. We have accessible and gender-neutral toilets. Assistance dogs welcome.

Filming: The use of tripods and private filming is not permitted. ZHF will be taking photographs of the event, please inform staff on the day if you do not wish to be included in any photographs.
